The summer heat is finally starting to set in, and in Vail that means it’s time to put those skis away and enjoy the real fun this place has to offer with its hiking, biking, rafting, camping and-best of all-the hot summer nights filled with world-class entertainment.

“I put up with winter, I live here for the summer” says Sarah Dixon of the Vail Valley Foundation.

As the manager of marketing and public relations, she advertises and attempts to involve everyone in everything Vail has to offer. From Hot Summer Night concerts to the Vail Valley Foundations' renowned Dance Festival, Sarah Dixon is at the heart of it all. Her passion for the arts and love for her job makes her perfect for the position. Her enthusiasm draws your attention immediately and makes you desperate to know what new event is making her this excited.

How long have you been in the valley?
I have been here for five years. I graduated from college and thought that living in the mountains would be fun and interesting.

How did you get involved with the Vail Valley Foundation?
I lived in the valley for three years before I took this job. I started out as an intern for the Vail Daily, meeting new and exciting people and starting to make important connections, but I had my eye on the Vail Valley Foundation the entire time. I saw all the wonderful things that they were apart of and I really wanted to be apart of it. It became my dream job, so when a position opened up I jumped on the opportunity. It’s a wonderful place to work, and I love being a part of so many exciting things.

What do you do at the Vail Valley Foundation?
I handle marketing and public relations: My job is to make sure that everyone knows what is going on in Vail and where to find it at what time.

What is your favorite event that you help to put on?
I would definitely have to say the Vail International Dance Festival. There are so many great dancers and the things they can do are amazing. It’s a lot of hard work preparing for the festival, but the performances make it all worth it. I also love working with Damian, the artistic director.

What is your favorite form of performing arts?
I love music! I love the variety of artists, the fun summer concerts, all the special events and I love the community aspect it brings with it.

So what does everyone have to look forward to?
The Vail International Dance Festival is coming up on July 27, and I can already feel the excitement brewing. I really hope everyone can come down and watch.
